Growing in confidence is the natural consequence of doing. And, really importantly, there’s no substitute for the actual doing. Thinking isn’t going to make us more confident; it might make us marginally more prepared for something, but it’s not going to actually give us the feedback that the doing will accomplish.
The act of doing something gets our fears out of our head and gives them an arena to play in. Our neural pathways are rewired and shaped as we teach our brain that our body is capable of accomplishing a certain task. It’s why we let our kids scale the rock climbing wall or wobble on their bikes – they’re learning that they can.
The feeling of can is so incredibly powerful. You can’t trick yourself into believing it, but when you get the experience that sets that mantra on fire in your brain? You light a mental spark that can literally change how you live.
The world is full of a lot of loud voices. We prioritize the thoughtful here. Conversations over rushed conclusions. Taking it slow enough to notice, and valuing the differences that make us unique. Each month we like to share a little of what’s on our heart. We’d love to have you a part of the conversation as well!!
This month Sarah shared what it has looked like to grow in confidence. No matter your sphere, we’re pretty sure you’ve experienced the growth of confidence in your own life in some way, shape, or form. It may have different paths to its achievement, but confidence always ends up at the same place — strength born from trial, error, and struggle.
