We’ve mentioned it before, but it’s worth mentioning again (and always): The Design Lab is here to support women business owners as they solve new problems, support their communities, and do things their way.
Seeing the joy these business owners have when we’re able to turn their ideas into reality, something that’s real and concrete, is what keeps us going. It’s what motivates us on days that we’re worn out by business ownership in capitalist society or when we’re tired of seeing so many women with game-changing ideas get overlooked by bigger (and let’s be real — male-dominated) businesses.
We get to show the world that these amazing ideas have traction — and we’re handing women the tools they can use to elevate their confidence and their reach. It’s not just about eye-catching graphics, either. We want to give women and small businesses a pathway to build a brand that serves their long-term goals. So when we work with businesses like The Glory Days Co., it’s a reminder that putting some oomph behind women’s ideas really freakin’ matters.
Amanda is the owner of The Glory Days Co., a company that provides daily planners for parents of differently-abled little ones. She is a mom of three who started The Glory Days Co. after their daughter’s Down syndrome diagnosis at birth.
We originally worked with Amanda to design these helpful planners, but it’s about so much more than the paper and spirals. The Glory Days was created to meet moms where they are, whether that’s in the beginning or in the middle of a challenging season, with resources and connections to a community of families who understand what they’re going through. Their planners aren’t just specially formatted for the needs of parents juggling therapies, medications, and appointments — they center mom first, leaving room to provide her with self-care check-ins and encouragement from other moms.
When Amanda founded The Glory Days Co. in 2018, she knew she had a way to meet a deep need for the caregiver community but was starting from the ground up. She needed a way to get her idea out into the world — she needed to give it an identity.
We’ve been working with Amanda since the start of The Design Lab (she was one of our very first clients!), helping her create a new line of planners each season.
Today, we support The Glory Days with ongoing Design Days where we’ll work on wholesale catalogs, her booth design at NYNOW, resource templates, social graphics, ad graphics, and digital renderings of all her product photography!
As The Glory Days Co. grew, Amanda wanted to maintain her brand’s visual identity, never losing touch with how important every piece of her business is to serving her audience well.
“Nicole really gave me the steps to ensure I had a viable concept and next steps to take. She’s been way more than a designer for our company. She’s a fundamental building block in our story.”
In the last few years of working with Amanda and her team, we’ve been able to assist her as they’ve grown into operating three lines of business. Now, Amanda sells her planners through her website, as well as Glory Days Co. related merch.
They’ve also been able to create The Glory Days Foundation — a non-profit fund that helps place resources into the hands of parents from day one — and have expanded into wholesale partnerships with the likes of Walmart.
The Glory Days also works with Workable for their order fulfillment, a company that employs people with disabilities — further proof that money behind money helps our communities! It’s truly amazing to see the impact that Amanda and her vision have had. While we know she’d be making huge moves without us, it’s really amazing to be part of it.
“We are growing and changing constantly. It’s been amazing to survive Covid, two newborns, and a pregnancy while maintaining our company. Nicole is a major part of this success in my messy middle. Her imagery helps me come across professionally and consistently even when life is challenging and inconsistent.”
Being able to support women in business as they continue to grow and change their corner of the world is why we do what we do. We’re so excited to see The Glory Days Co. grow their reach and to be a piece of that puzzle — ah-mazing to say the least!
If you want to keep up with Amanda’s journey, you can find her on Instagram — @theglorydaysco, or online at theglorydaysco.com. July is also their big mid-year sale, so keep your eyes peeled!!
